What Can I do With a Major
Major: Art Description of Major: The Department of Art offers studio courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in drawing, painting, graphic design, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, fibers, and photography. In this program, you will study the historical development of art as social and intellectual phenomenon, the analysis of works of art, and art conservation. You will learn about art theory, art history research methods, the preservation and conservation of works of art, and you will study specific periods, cultures, styles, and themes. The BA degree is intended for the student desiring a liberal education with a concentration in art, while the BFA provides for more professional training in the studio area. The BFA also is the required undergraduate degree for admission to most Master of Fine Arts programs.
