What Can I do With a Major Major: Marketing Description of Major: In this program, you will study the role of marketing as an integral part of our economy and look at the major activities which constitute marketing, such as product design, quality, advertising, sales, and distribution. Through your course work you will develop an understanding of the principles, policies and procedures, and institutions which are involved in getting products and services from producers to consumers. You will learn how to analyze consumer opinions and tastes in order to determine what products and services people want. You will study ways to create consumer interest and to forecast demand for a product or service. Marketing is usually offered in schools of business or management. A person looking to go into marketing typically possess skills of creativity, be creative, enjoy working on new ideas and developing a new product, be good with numbers because data analysis is important to this field, be persuasive and most importantly be able to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
