What Can I do With a Major

Major: Psychology

Description of Major:

Psychology is the study of human mind and behavior. A degree in psychology prepares students for graduate school as well as careers in a wide variety of fields. Five career paths that students majoring in Psychology choose are Residential Care, Social and Human Services, Human Resources, Therapy, and Teaching. You will learn about the science of mind and behavior, human individual and group behavior, the physical and environmental basis of behavior, and the analysis and treatment of behavior problems and disorders. This major relies heavily on exploring various theories, while looking at new research and techniques. Students who major in Psychology receive a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology or if students choose to go to graduate school receive a doctoral degree in one of these concentration areas: Clinical, Developmental, Cognitive/ Neuroscience, Quantitative and Social Psychology.
