What Can I do With a Major Major: Radiography (Health/Medical Diagnostic/Treatment) Description of Major: For this major, many science related courses such as chemistry, physiology, anatomy, and biology are required. Additional courses that are recommended include medical terminology, laws and ethics, first aid, psychology, medical history, anesthesia, and surgical procedures. You will learn how to use medical equipment, related supplies, and procedures for diagnostic and treatment purposes. By the end of your schooling, you will possess the knowledge needed to aid physicians in diagnosis and treatment by administering x-rays to various patients. Individuals interested in this field should be able to pay close attention to detail, be able to work well with others, follow instructions, and be aware of the patient’s physical and psychological needs. Specialty areas of radiography include fluoroscopy, mammography, cardiovascular-interventional technology, and computed tomography. Radiography is a field that requires additional and continuing education with possible room for advancement.
