Gain Experience

Internships: Basic Information

What?
Internships offer students a chance to get "hands-on" experience while working for a semester or summer in a field related to their major. Internships offer experience beyond clerical duties.

Who?
Recruiters usually look for students with some experience in the field the will be working in. Sophomores and Juniors are often the most recruited for internships, although there are many positions for Freshmen and Seniors.

How?
To find an internship you can search the Career Center's online Internship database. The Career Center also has many physical resources available such as internship guides to direct students to specific companies. Various colleges throughout the University of Missouri also offer help for obtaining internships through their own career services offices. Visit their websites to find specific recruiters coming to interview for internships on campus.
