Statement on Racial Injustice and Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion

Many of you have seen Dr. Choi’s email message about the racist events of the past months, weeks and days. The MU Career Center wants to acknowledge the recent publicized tragedies involving racism and injustice. These have been acts of overt, hostile, and dangerous racism. The mental, physical, and emotional impact of these events cannot be overstated, especially for the Black community. Many of our Black colleagues, staff, students, and friends are hurting and suffering. We share in the anger and concern over the deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and many others before them. The MU Career Center is committed to collectively continuing to work toward social justice and promoting diversity and inclusion.

We encourage you to read the MU Career Center’s Statement on Inclusivity as well as the recent communication shared by one of our professional organizations, the National Association of Colleges & Employers.

Sincerely,
MU Career Center Staff
