A Little Study Abroad FAQ

Have you considered study abroad? Here’s a little Q&A from a recently returned world traveler, Leslie Howard, who answers your most pressing questions!

Question: Is studying abroad fun?
Answer: Literally the most fun. Do it.

Question: Am I required to speak a foreign language if I study abroad?
Answer: Nope! It depends on where you want to go, but it’s not required everywhere.

Question: Can I study abroad on Mars?
Answer: No… give it a few years

Question: Can I afford to study abroad?
Answer: Do your research, talk to the study abroad advisors, find the right program, apply for scholarships, and work hard to save a little money. Just find the right opportunity.

Question: Do I have to take classes every day while I am abroad?
Answer: Nope! Lots of people take classes and have formal educational experiences (with varying class schedules, of course) but many people also find internships abroad! There are many different kinds of trips.

Question: Do cool people study abroad?
Answer: Absolutely! You can meet cool people everywhere. Not only will you meet interesting people in your program, but also you will have opportunities to interact with fascinating new people from the country in which you are living.

Question: Do you faceless blog writer recommend I study abroad?
Answer: YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!! I was abroad in South Korea from mid-July to mid-August and had an incredible time (a short series of blog from my summer is coming soon!). International experiences are so unique and I now have a group of really fantastic new friends.

Answer:  The Study Abroad Fair!!!
