Sadly, most good things have to come to an end and Winter Break is one of them. With that being said, here is a little go-to advice to start your semester off right.
1. Be Aware of Your Semester Demands
One of the best things you can do is to get a planner and diligently use it. As soon as your professor posts your syllabus onto Canvas write down when assignments are due. Also, write in assignments that pop up randomly so you can’t be caught off guard. This will help give you a general idea of what you have to do each week and when it is due, plus the satisfaction of crossing something off your list.
2. Have a Positive Attitude
One of my favorite quotes is, “You can’t control what happens to you, but you can control how you respond to it.” Being positive or looking on the bright-side of situation can change your whole attitude for the entire semester and change your outlook on life. Not focusing on the negative of a situation gives you freedom by not being trapped in the not so good things that can happen to you.
3. Set Goals for Yourself
Set goals for yourself that you would like to achieve by the end of the semester. Make sure they are realistic. They can either be for career development or personal growth. Either way, make sure you never stop improving yourself and your skill set. They can either be small goals like cleaning your room once a week or learning a new language.
Just doing these three things can set yourself up for success for the rest of the semester. Be prepared and have a positive attitude. Those two things will make all the difference. Have a great semester Tigers! The MU Career Center believes in you!
