Our core functions

Our vision is a future in which students discover and develop meaningful career paths that enhance their lives and communities. Our mission is to provide services and resources for MU students to acquire the skills, experiences, and connections needed to thrive in their careers.

  • Exploration: Empower students to envision and clarify goals through career exploration and self-development. 
  • Experience: Advocate for and model rich student employment and experiential education to engage students, increase persistence, and support their success. 
  • Preparation: Coach students to actively prepare for and successfully pursue their unique career paths. 
  • Connection: Foster connections with industry partners to help students develop skills, build professional networks, and find post-graduation success. 
  • Leadership & Education: Provide campus leadership and career education through resource development, innovation of best practices, management of career technology, and coordination of university initiatives.

The MU Career Center is dedicated to providing an inviting environment where students are empowered to pursue lifelong career development. Student Paraprofessionals

Since its creation in 1974, the Career Center has recruited and trained students to provide career coaching services. Peer Career Specialists help students explore majors and careers, create resumes, prepare for interviews, and much more. Our friendly and resourceful staff are wholly committed to helping others. They make talking about major and career questions an easy and comfortable process.
