What is career counseling?

The Mizzou Career Center provides short-term, individualized career counseling services to support students and recent alumni in exploring career-related challenges and decisions. Services are provided by graduate counselors in training under the supervision of a licensed psychologist.

Career counselors may:

  • Discuss career, academic, and personal/social concerns
  • Assist you through career transitions and decisions
  • Offer career self-assessments to understand your skills, abilities, interests, talents, and values
  • Connect you to job search and career information resources
  • Help you set personal and professional goals
  • Explore ways to find balance in your life
  • Support identity development and values clarification
  • Address concerns such as stress, anxiety, or motivation as they relate to your academic and career goals

Please note that at any time you can access career coaching regarding resumes, cover letters, job searching, and more.

  • This service is not a substitute for long-term or specialized mental health treatment.
