Picking out a major can be a daunting task. With over 300 degree programs, Mizzou has an abundance of options, but that can make the search feel even more overwhelming. Luckily, the Mizzou Career Center (MUCC) has options for students looking to dive deeper into major exploration.
Career and Major Guidance
Through the Career Center, any Mizzou student can meet with a Career Specialist for a career and major guidance conversation. These conversations are driven by the student – whether they want to discuss deciding between two majors, possible career paths, or are considering a major switch, these meetings are a way for students to get helpful resources and insight from the MUCC staff.
Students can schedule an appointment with a Career Specialist through MU Connect or can drop-in anytime from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Focus 2
The Focus 2 assessment is a great starting point for students looking to narrow down their interests. A free online assessment, Focus 2 includes five different sections that dive into work interests, values, personality, skills, and leisure preferences. Students can combine results from each section to find recommended careers and majors. Once they’ve taken the assessment, students can visit the MUCC to speak with a Career Specialist to see how their results apply to their lives.

Career Counseling
Perfect for students looking for a more one-on-one approach to the major search, career counseling is on-going, individualized support to help guide students through any decisions relating to career or major decisions. At career counseling, students can delve beyond basic major exploration and look into any area of their personal or academic life that could be affecting their decision-making process.
