What do you like to do? What are you good at? What makes you happy? Before you launch into researching majors or career paths, it’s important to do some reflection on your values, interests, and personality which can provide you with clues to potential majors and career paths.
Learn about yourself
The free Focus 2 assessment identifies your values, skills, and personality. It enables you to search for occupations and majors that closely align with your interests. Take Focus 2 at the Career Center or online. Afterwards, stop by the Career Center to discuss your results with a Career Specialist.
CliftonStrengths ($15 fee) is a tool that helps you identify your natural talents – the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that come naturally to you. Knowing your talents, you can build them into strengths to achieve academic, career, and personal success.
Once you have identified your values, skills, personality and interests, start taking advantage of opportunities on campus to “test drive” these options. Student organizations, employment, and community service are just a few of the many options Mizzou offers. Reflect on the things you enjoy, talk with others about your interests, and visit the Career Center to find other ways to get hands-on experience.

SSC 2100 is a one-credit hour course is open to undergraduate students in all majors and grade levels who may be at any point of the decision process regarding their major, career, and life direction.
