Applying to the Sinclair School of Nursing

In the final semester of completing pre-nursing requirements, students apply for admission to the clinical major.  The application process is competitive, but the Career Center can help you with your application materials and interview preparation. Let us help you communicate your skills and abilities and build your confidence.

This digital hub of career resources includes hundreds of materials, including career guides, videos, blogs and infographics. You can search information by career interest, career topic or student identity.

Nursing career resources

This Career Community is focused on the many different areas students can pursue in fields of healthcare and medicine. Browse blogs for career advice, review resources for job and internship leads, and watch videos profiling unique occupations.

Career Coaching

Peer Career Specialists: Trained paraprofessionals are committed to providing guidance and recommending resources. Students can schedule an appointment via MU Connect or drop-in weekdays between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to the Student Success Center. Our Career Specialists are ready to assist you with resumes, cover letters, career exploration, job searching and more.

Resumes

Your resume is intended to get you an interview. While there are hundreds of online templates, the design and content of your document should be unique to you! Use our resources and seek feedback from our staff to make the strongest possible resume.

Cover letters

A cover letter serves as a one-page introduction to potential employers and often accompanies your resume. It’s a an opportunity to expand on your skills and experience and serves as your first writing sample an employer will read.

Interviews

Interviews are a chance to "tell your story" where you can describe your skills, experiences and unique attributes. These tools can help you prepare for interview questions, enhance your professionalism and boost your confidence.

Each year employers post thousands of jobs on Handshake for nurses and healthcare professionals. The site also features hundreds of virtual recruitment events in the healthcare industry. Students also have the opportunity to interact with recruiters in person at one of our fall or spring career fairs.
