Employment

Mizzou students have many employment opportunities available to them. There’s not a right or wrong time to start working. Just consider taking your time to find a meaningful work experience that is related to or complements your major or career interests.

Campus Jobs are particularly advantageous because of their convenient location, supportive supervisors, and focus on student development. On-campus positions can be temporary or long-term working for a department in a variety of roles such as customer service, retail, office support and more.

Off-Campus Jobs come in a wide variety of positions at large companies and small businesses throughout Columbia. Some require transportation, but many are within walking distance of campus. Local employers have come to rely on hiring Mizzou talent!

Internships are an opportunity to apply knowledge gained from the classroom to a professional setting. Internships can be paid or unpaid and, in some cases, are available for course credit. Internships make you very competitive: internship experience is the most influential factor on an application.

Why seek a job?

Employment is an excellent way to earn extra income, gain experience, build new skills and cultivate positive references. Often, students who have part-time jobs explore and refine their career goals all while gaining strong work habits and confidence in their abilities. Previous work experience is highly valued by employers seeking to hire college graduates.
