MU Career Center walk-in services will re-open the week before classes. Starting January 14th, students may stop in Monday though Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for assistance. No appointment is needed. The spring semester starts January 22 after the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Featured Resource: Informational Interviews

The winter break is a wonderful time for students to have informational interviews. Informational interviewing is a process that begins by reaching out to a professional in a specific field to ask questions about what that person does. It can go a long way in giving students a much more personal look into what a certain job would actually be like on a daily basis. Informational interviews are a great way for exploring students to learn more about what they might want to continue pursuing as a future career path.

Students should be professional and ask for an appointment with the person, if possible. Questions can then be asked to gain more insight on specifics of the position. A thank you note or appreciative e-mail afterwards can go a long way in networking with the professional that was interviewed! For more information about informational interviewing, as well as tips on how to set these up, visit the MU Career Center’s Job Shadowing and Informational Interviewing Handout on our website or by searching Mizzou Career Tools!
