The following presentations are designed to be 45 minutes long and delivered by a trained MU Career Center staff member. Request a presentation here.
CliftonStrengths
CliftonStrengths identifies your top talent themes that can help you to be a successful student, explore career options, and prepare you for your job search. *requires students to take CliftonStrengths assessment. Please see more info below under ASSIGNMENTS.
Workshop Your Resume
Create or update your resume during this working session. Learn the basics of what goes into a resume, how to build compelling content, and formatting do’s and don’ts. Students will have time to update their resume during the session.
Resume/Cover Letter
Learn the foundations of writing and refining a resume and cover letter to show off strengths, target and write content, and create a professional look.
Resume/Interviewing
A shortened version of both the resume and interviewing presentations, giving the basic information about both important pieces of a student job search.
Interviewing
All the vital info about interviewing is presented in an interactive presentation, including how to prepare, answer common questions, and what to expect from most interviewing situations.
Developing Your Online Image
Find out the basics of networking using LinkedIn show your positive side, network, research people and organizations, and search for opportunities. Also included is general tips about other social media platforms.
Values Activity
An interactive game where participants bid on career values, which helps them evaluate critical pieces of a possible future career. *Recommended for audiences of 20 or less.

We offer shortened presentation versions of the following topics: Resume, Interviewing, and Online Image.
Assignments
Students can be directed to complete assignments through a consultation with a MU Career Center staff member. Request an assignment here.
CliftonStrengths Assessment ($15 fee per person)
Online survey that identifies your top five talent themes and gives language to use as a student and in a job search. We recommend to have students speak with a Career Specialist after taking CliftonStrengths; research shows that students gain more from taking this assessment when they have an opportunity to discuss their results.
Focus 2 Assessment (free)
Online career self-assessment that helps you to explore your interests, values, personality, skills, and leisure activities and how they relate to possible future occupations. We recommend to have students speak with a Career Specialist after taking Focus 2 to better understand their results.
Resume Review
Send your students to the MU Career Center with a draft of their resume for review. They will get individualized feedback about the organization, style, and content of their document while discussing their strengths and goals.
Interviewing Preparation
Your students can learn tips on interview techniques or conduct a short mock interview with a Career Specialist.
Big Interview (online software platform)
Big Interview is Mizzou’s online interview preparation software that provides students the ability to record answers to questions for your review. Email peiterl@missouri.edu for faculty/staff access.
LinkedIn Profile Review
A trained Career Specialist will meet with students individually about how to create or enhance their LinkedIn profile in a compelling way.
Selfie Studio
Students can take a professional headshot in our studio for use on LinkedIn and Handshake.
Recommended Combinations
Introduce the topic verbally or though information on Canvas, then consider the following to integrate topics into your curriculum.
NOTE: All requests for both presentations and assignments where your students connect with a Career Specialist are submitted on the same form.

Host a presentation: Invite a presenter to deliver the “Workshop Your Resume, “Resume/Cover Letter” or “Resume/Interviewing” presentation to your group (45 minutes), show Writing Your Resume (Be the Purple Squirrel!) video (14 minutes) or Conquering the Cover Letter video (6 minutes), or check out our “Intro to Resumes” downloadable lesson plan.
Assign an activity: Assign your students to connect with a Career Specialist at the MU Career Center to do a resume review.
Follow up: Share Mizzou Career Tools link for resumes and cover letters.

Assign an activity: Assign your students to purchase a CliftonStrengths code ($15) and connect with a Career Specialist at the MU Career Center to have a conversation about the results.
Host a presentation: Invite a presenter to deliver the “CliftonStrengths” presentation to your group (45 minutes), show Interpreting Your Strengths video (14 minutes), or check out our “CliftonStrengths” downloadable lesson plan.
Follow up: Share Mizzou Career Tools link for CliftonStrengths. Have your students write a reflection about their talent themes.
Interviewing
Host a presentation: Invite a presenter to deliver the “Interviewing” presentation to your group (45 minutes), show Ace the Interview video (15 minutes), or check out our “Interviewing” downloadable lesson plan.
Assign an activity: Assign your students to connect with a Career Specialist to complete a mock interview or assign them to complete an online interview with Big Interview, our preparation software that allows them to record answers to a bank of questions.
Follow up: Share Mizzou Career Tools link for interviewing.
Online Image
Host a presentation: Invite a presenter to deliver the “Developing Your Online Image” presentation to your group (45 minutes), show Developing Your Online Image video, or check out our “Online Image” downloadable lesson plan.
Assign an activity: Assign your students to start or enhance a LinkedIn profile, and then connect with a Career Specialist at the MU Career Center to do a LinkedIn Profile review. Have them take a professional headshot in our Selfie Studio while they are here.

Career and Major Exploration
Host a presentation: Invite a presenter to deliver the “Values Activity” presentation to your group (45 minutes), or show Career and Major Exploration video.
Assign an activity: Assign your students to complete the Focus 2 assessment, and then connect with a Career Specialist at the MU Career Center to discuss the results.
Follow up: Share Mizzou Career Tools link for career and major exploration.
