Student Employee Appreciation

2021 Celebration: April 12-16

Universities across the country recognize the importance of student employees by setting aside a week of acknowledgement. Student Employee Appreciation Week increases awareness of those students who work for the institution, and helps these employees understand the impact of their essential contributions. This event helps employers maximize awareness of the service that students provide to the community, and the campus increases participation and discussion of student employment and career-related issues.

Tips and Tricks for Virtual Interviews*

Description: Virtual interviews are a great way to connect with employers but can cause confusion. Are you looking for help on how to present yourself virtually? Search no more as this workshop will provide you some essential guidelines which will help you to shine in your next virtual interview. Laura Peiter from the MU Career Center will be facilitating this for student employees, but Supervisors are welcome to attend, too!

The Office for Financial Success (OFS) can be your “Friend in Finance.” This one-hour workshop will introduce the first step in getting control of your financial situation, address your queries about student debts and loans as well as help in creating a financial plan.

Practicing Mindfulness During the Pandemic*

Description: This workshop which is focused on mindfulness is designed specifically for you, the student working and attending school. We understand the current COVID-19 pandemic has created unprecedented situations and potentially enormous amount of stress in the working environment. In situations like these, it is essential to manage your mental health and well-being. We will be discussing techniques and strategies to manage your stress in realistic and healthy ways. Supervisors of student employees are welcome to attend, too! Andrea L. Kimura who has been a yoga and meditation instructor for over 10 years will lead this workshop and offer her insights.
